Organic Strawberries
We've picked some strawberries today and we will bring them to Royal Oak Farmers Market tomorrow Saturday 6/14. We will be inside from 7-1. We have banners on our tables identifying we are with Maple Creek Farm.
Please do not call or email with orders. We'll sell them on a first come first served basis.
Please do not ask for orders for future dates, starting tomorrow we use all strawberries for csa shares. This is a one time only offer. If we do end up with strawberries next Saturday I will be sure to let you know. If you are a 2008 csa member, please be sure to let your market helper know that.
I am very happy to be able to offer extra strawberries like this, you never know with berries how many you'll have until you go out there and pick them. We're dodging storms left & right out here, so I guess you really never know.
Come see us tomorrow Royal Oak Farmers Market 7-1 (11Mile & Main) we're inside and the berries are delicious.
Sorry to have to put all the stuff in about no orders for tomorrow and no orders for future berries.....I go to bed early (leave at 2am for market) so I just don't have time to take calls and answer emails about strawberries-this is my special "heads up" message for friends and supports of Maple Creek Farm-thank you for supporting us.
Sincerely,
Michelle
Not getting your pick up infor for your csa share?
I've been getting lots of calls this week from csa members that have not recv'd their pick up location information. I have sent out all the emails (except for Lincoln Park & Port Huron-I will get those done by weeks end). The one thing I have noticed that everyone seems to have in common-yahoo is sending me to your spam folder. Please make sure you check your spam or junk box to see if I have ended up there. Add me as a friend and that way you won't miss out on any important info.
So excited to get started last week. Sounds like we have one more batch of storms to go through today-wishing everyone that has suffered this week well. Believe me Danny & I know too well how weather can change everything so quickly!

A quick update about membership info
Hello 2008 CSA Members!
I bet you are wondering how the farm is doing with all the storm activity. I think we made out a lot better than most and dodged some really nasty weather over the past few days. We did get rain and as a matter of fact we'd like a few days without rain. Here's some good news-we've received more rain already than we did up until the beginning of August last season-so that's a good sign!
We're excited about getting started with csa shares next week. I have sent almost all the emails (Dearborn, Lincoln Park & Port Huron) I still have to do & they will be sent out by the end of the day. If you have not recv'd your pick up location info please give me a call.
I know many of you are dealing with no power, no computers, et so I hope the info gets to you.
Prediction for first shares: strawberries, all different types of lettuce, garlic scapes and other early greens like kale, swiss chard or collards. and some dill too!
Thank you for your support and as always please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Eat & Be Well,
Danny & Michelle Lutz

2008 CSA Memberships
There are 20 csa memberships available for the 2008 season. I need anyone that plans on participating this season to let me know no later than Monday 6/9. There are a couple pick up locations that are full and they are not available for any new sign ups for pick up options: Ferndale & Farmington.
Don't worry if you signed up before today you were able to get your preferred pick up spot.
We're getting started the week of 6/16. We're excited and here's a little prediction of what you'll be getting. Strawberries, a few different types of lettuce, there should be some kale, collards, swiss chard ready then too. Don't be surprised if you see some zucchini in your shares either. My plants in the hoophouse are getting ready to burst! Things are looking good, it's really going to warm up here soon and then things are just going to take off. I am not hoping for high 80's it's just not the kind of weather the broccoli and cabbage love and we have tons of it planted for you. Bet you'll see some of those crops in your share by week 2 or 3.
Got some rain, getting some computer time. You should have all your pick up info by the end of the week for sure.
Thanks for your patience. Looking forward to making up those first shares.

Start Date & More CSA INFO
Dear 2008 CSA Members,
Danny & I have decided on a start week. We will begin csa share distribution the 3rd week of June.
I realize many of you do not have your pick up information. I am really hoping tomorrows forecast for rain is accurate because then I know I'll have time to sit down in front of the computer and finish the lists & emails.
I will get you the info this week. I really appreciate your patience. On these sunny days I need to be watering greenhouses and keep the planting on track so it's hard to be in the house in front of the computer. Now that we have a decided start week now I know I have a deadline to work against and I will get those of you that have not received your pick up info everything you need by the end of this week.
We are hoping to pass out strawberries during our first week of distribution. It's hard to say right now how many we'll get, but we always keep track of what we pass out and will make sure everyone gets some strawberries.
Things are good out here. We think the weather is finally on our side. Last week was tough with 3 frosty mornings. But that's last week and now we look ahead to a week of warmer temps and that should help things get growing. We want there to be more than just lettuce in the first shares!!!
Thank you for your support & patience.
Sincerely,
Danny & Michelle Lutz
